body in trouble
She starts off the article by talking about Jesus healing people with physical illnesses and how there was only one way to heal people but now those ways of healing just seem old. She then goes on to talk about her disability relating herself to a witch. She then talks about people not noticing her because she cannot be seen. She talks about how she cannot cut carrots or ladle soup or use sharp things but the one sharp thing she has left is her tongue.
how to tame a wild tongue
She starts off her article with a story of her at the dentist and she keeps messing with the stuff he is putting into her mouth. She tells another story of her being disciplined for talking in Spanish. She was forced to lose her accent and speak in English throughout her school years. She then starts talking about the ways that people speak Spanish like Spanglish, Tex-Mex, etc. and goes on for a long time about Spanish and the way she speaks Spanish and English. She finally gets to talking about how some people are afraid to talk in their native tongue. She talks about how she only saw a few bilingual movies and books. To finish her story she talks about how her language will live on while others die out.

Jake Baldwin
In this article Jake Baldwin is pointing out the difference between the way that the blacks and the whites used to talk. In the beginning he does talk about other languages but his main focus of the article is the difference between a black mans speech and a white mans speech. He talks about how blacks used to use Jazz as a sexual term and then the whites turned it into the Jazz Age. He gives other examples of words used by black that were changed into something totally different by the whites. He ends his article with talking about how white kids never wanted black kids in school and how a child cannot be taught by someone who despises him.

malcom x
The thesis of this article is that you can learn just with books and you don't need to go to college to be a good reader or writer. The logos of this article is the fact that he read books and became better at reading and writing. The ethos is that he was a human rights activists and he is well known. The pathos is he is very serious and straight forward.
